How to Use Android Auto™ Wireless

Your best bet will be to use an Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or any version after that model. We’ve noticed that Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is optimal for Bluetooth connectivity. Follow our step-by-step guide below on how to use Android Auto™ without USB cables:

  1. Turn Android Auto On: Turn on Android Auto™ in your car’s settings.
  2. Download App: Download the Android Auto™ app from Google Play.
  3. Unlock Screen: Unlock your phone’s screen.
  4. Double-Check App Permissions: Review the Safety Information and Android Auto™ permissions.
  5. Activate Notifications: Turn on notifications for Android Auto™.
  6. Connect Your Phone to Your Car: If your car supports a wireless Bluetooth connection, go to Settings > General > Your Car’s Make & Model > Select Your Vehicle
  7. Finish Connection: On your vehicle’s display, select Android Auto™.

How to Connect Apple CarPlay®

Before getting started, you’ll need to have an iPhone 5 or any later version and be sure that your Toyota vehicle supports Apple CarPlay®. Then, on your iPhone, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Turn Siri on.

Follow the instructions outlined below to connect your Toyota to Apple CarPlay®:

  1. Connect Your Phone Into USB Port: Plug your phone into the CarPlay® USB port, which should be labeled with the CarPlay® logo.
  2. Select Your Car Via Bluetooth: If your car supports a wireless Bluetooth® connection, go to Settings > General > CarPlay® > Available Cars and select your car.
  3. Turn On the Car: Start your car and let it run.
  4. Use Voice Control to Activate Siri: Ask Siri what’s needed by either pressing and holding the Voice Control button on your steering wheel or touching and holding the CarPlay® Home button on your touchscreen until Siri appears.
